The product language
The Entropy Index does not publish a single red light. It publishes two clocks on the same sealed instrument.
Watch is the earliest Crisis signal of any fashion — thermodynamic load in Crisis, entropy gap in Crisis, or both. Watch means: surface it to the office. Do not treat Watch alone as an allocate signal.
Act is dual Crisis only — load in Crisis and gap at or above Orange together. Act is the capital decision clock.
That distinction is the product. Confusing them is how desks either ignore early stress or overtrade noise.
Why two clocks
Human systems accumulate pressure while the surface still looks fine. Markets often price fear late. A single binary “Crisis” label collapses two different jobs: notice and decide.
Watch answers notice. Act answers decide.
Under sealed V5-locked physics (V5-locked (1.19.0)), the same clocks appear on the live desk and on the case studies. Same formula. Same meaning.
How an IC should use them
- Put Watch on the shared surface — morning notes, risk packs, corridor dashboards.
- Require Act (or an explicit override) before size, hedge, or mandate changes that assume dual stress.
- Keep narrative geo and market prices in the stack. The Index is the structural layer upstream of those tools — not a replacement for them.
What this is not
Watch is not a prediction that an event will fire next month. Act is not a promise of returns. Both are readings of systemic stress under a frozen formula.
If your process needs a single traffic light, you will misuse the instrument. Keep both clocks.
