Why it is a milestone
Agents already quote, size, and send. The missing step was a risk readout they can pay for at request time. A thousand doors only matter if they share one freeze. They do: the V5-locked instrument behind the lock note.

x402 is still mostly plumbing. As of an August 2026 snapshot (Coinbase CDP Bazaar discovery (July 2026), x402-list.com, internal mall comps): on the order of 25,000 facilitator resources, about 15,400 honest listings, and closer to 1,300 with meaningful repeat demand. Paid fees on the largest facilitator were about $7,300 in 30 days. Search and scrape still dwarf everything else.

What “first” we will claim

We will not say we invented risk on x402. We will say we shipped the class above the sticker: a sealed thermodynamic instrument, two clocks, 2008 proof, and 1000 named faces on one handler. As of that snapshot, that combination did not exist.
Why the engine fits this rail
