Gap Crisis

Product lexicon

Three terms a mandate IC needs before reading the clocks — same language on the live Index.

Watch
Earliest Crisis of any fashion — I_sys Crisis, gap Crisis, or dual. Surface to clients; do not allocate on Watch alone.
Act
Dual Crisis — I_sys Crisis ∧ entropy gap ≥ Orange. The capital posture clock.
Hit
Signal at or before the relevant event day. Lighting on the day counts; missing the month is a miss.

Dual clocks

Watch and Act lit together before the filing

Watch = earliest Crisis vs public day of event (hit = at or before). Act = dual vs realization day when different. Do not allocate on Watch alone; do not hide Watch from clients. Mind-path episodes may be Watch-only in batting.

The verdict · plain read

What the sealed backtest says about Global oil / energy price system — in everyday terms first.

What

Gap Crisis

Watch before WTI peak

Feb 2006 gap Crisis — 29 months before Jul 2008 WTI peak.

Why

Energy-system stress registered before the barrel headline.

  • WTI peak held out as outcome validator.
  • Dual Act not before peak under frozen physics.
  • Same physics as GFC and food crisis.

Desk implication

Use Watch for energy-system escalation; Act only when dual Crisis clears.

How stress changed

Katrina-era rupture before the $147 print.

Energy Mind and policy Identity registered while retail energy CPI still looked contained at the headline extreme. WTI spot peak is outcome validator only.

Wide eval from 2006-01. Watch-class — do not allocate on gap alone.

What happened

WTI crude climbed from the mid-$50s in early 2007 through $100 in January 2008 toward a $147 intraday print on 3 July 2008.

Retail gasoline and energy CPI lagged the commodity run — pump prices broke records in spring 2008 after Mind and policy stress had already registered.

Post-Katrina refinery and gasoline rupture in 2005–06 was the first energy-system gap Crisis in the wide eval window.

What the Index showed

February 2006: gap Crisis — Watch fashion, twenty-nine months before the July 2008 WTI monthly peak.

July 2008 peak month: I_sys Green, gap Green — retail Body still looked contained at the headline extreme.

Dual Act did not clear before the peak under frozen physics — disclosed, not retuned.

WTI spot tracked as outcome validator only — scored Body uses lagged FRED commodity prints.

Method

Sealed physics. Dual clocks.

  • Watch clock anchors on July 2008 WTI monthly peak. Gate = gap Crisis on or before that month.
  • Body: curated WTI/gasoline/PPI fuels/energy CPI (1-month publication lag).
  • Mind: BBD news EPU + SPF dispersion. Identity: curated energy-policy stress index.
  • Wide eval from 2006-01 — Katrina-era gap counts; same frozen physics as GFC and food crisis.

Diligence checklist

  • Pass

    Period-correct point-in-time sources

No future information in the month. Vintage-honest ledgers per episode policy.

  • Pass

Dual Watch / Act product clocks

Watch = earliest Crisis of any fashion. Act = dual Crisis (I_sys Crisis ∧ gap ≥ Orange).

  • Pass

    Claim ceiling respected

Public language matches Travis-signed V5-locked claim ceiling. No invented live clocks.

  • Pass

    WTI outcome validator

WTI monthly peak series is held out of the gate anchor — scored Body uses lagged commodity prints.

  • Pass

Gap Crisis clears the sealed gate; dual Act before the July 2008 peak is not claimed.

Honesty rails

What we do not claim

Sealed backtest under Travis-signed claim ceiling. These limits are features — not footnotes.

  • We do not use the WTI peak print as a scored Body input.
  • We do not claim dual Act before the July 2008 WTI peak.
  • We do not forecast oil price targets or OPEC decisions.
  • We do not treat gap Crisis (Watch) as capital Act / allocate.

Why Entropy Index

The Entropy Index registers energy-system stress before the WTI peak — sealed Watch-class proof.

  • Watch surfaces gap Crisis before the barrel headline.
  • Act dual is not claimed before the peak.
  • Live corridor scoring uses the same engine today.
